sorry to post about OUAT outside of the safety of the patreon corral but I just. truly cannot stop thinking about the bugfuck insanity of the writers deciding to drop in the seventh episode of their show ever that Regina has kept the same man as a sex slave in two separate realities.

like the nature of Storybrooke is that, having altered memories and lives constructed by Regina, I think almost everyone is off the hook for any sex under the effects of the OG curse—ie, Snow White might regret hooking up with Victor Frankenstein but the two of them were as on an equal footing as possible in the situation and both consented based on their understanding of reality at the time—with the obvious exception of Regina! who is extremely aware that everyone else in town is the most under the influence that maybe anyone has ever been in the history of the world!

which would be yucky enough if it was like, a bad situationship that developed organically in Storybrooke, but no man she was just recreating her setup in the Enchanted Forest where she kept Graham as a sex slave for god knows how many years. hello! hello!!! is anyone listening I'm going insane.

season one kind of revels in getting to roll out little reveals of Regina's litany of crimes via flashbacks to keep emphasizing, over and over, that she is insane and petty and willing to stoop to pretty much anything. in the first episode you know she's responsible for the curse that drives the entire plot, standard big bad stuff, but by the tenth episode you know she also kidnapped multiple children and sent them to their deaths in the candy house from Hansel and Gretel. which is obviously bad, no shit, but it's like. she's Snow White's wicked stepmother, she's the villain in a loosely goosey live action adaptation of classic Disney movies. endangering children for cruel and petty reasons is part of the territory.

but she also like. you know. she explicitly has a scared, trapped man dragged away to her bed chamber after she forcibly kisses him and magically rips his heart out of his chest specifically so that he can never defy her again. and then in case there was even a little bit of doubt left about what's going on there she continues to make his real world counterpart have sex with her, and even under a spell that's completely erased his memories of his old identity and life, he admits that his relationship with Regina doesn't make him feel anything. no one ever comes right out and says Regina is using her power as the mayor to pressure him into it, but that would frankly be mild by her standards.

I can't even quite articulate why I'm so hung up on this except that it's like, so jarring to have Regina do so many over the top cartoon crimes with her magical murder and mayhem and then also slip in oh, btw, she's also a rapist! she raped that man!" especially when you factor in that, based on my memory of the show and general understanding of what mind of show this is, no one is ever going to acknowledge that. when Regina starts her good guy redemption arc and other characters try to hold her accountable for things it's always going to be "you killed Graham" and never "you killed Graham after raping him repeatedly for many years in two different realities." no one is ever going to talk about that.

except for me, because I'm stuck watching six and a half more seasons and I will not be able to forget.

A WIP of a Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler OC inspired by Lucifer Morningstar from The Sandman (very good show btw, highly recommend.) a few twists and tweaks have been added, and lore from the manga regarding demons had been taken into account as well (not much mind you, mainly Sebastian’s first appearance in the cult and his shape-shift-iness)

The relationship they share with Sebastian was going to be a metaphor for harmful drug addiction and toxic codependent relationships- but I never got around to fleshing out info and their dynamics (or finalising a design for that matter)

had an idea for yuu/Vil angst that was literally just yuu dying mid-overblot, never got around for finishing it but I had the idea to have their blot-infected corpse start to fuse with vil’s overblot form to create a nasty-looking abomination thing. (Twisted Wonderland)

A riff on the phantom of the opera - I had an idea for a world filled with old thriller/mystery/classics characters like victor frankenstien, Jekyll and Hyde, Dracula, Carmilla, Sherlock Holmes and the likes. Tbh the whole idea is a bit gimmicky but I’m having fun with it :3

originally created as a twst OC based on madame mim: Memphis/mimzy/mim. I came up with some twst universe lore related to malleus and his house (because I love fueding noble houses and the chaos it creates narratively). He is a type of draconic-fae but I never dug too deep into that for the twst lore. I initially struggled through several design before settling (for the moment) on this design- and thought it would be hilarious to making him the fruitiest straight man alive. And I think we all appreciate a guy whose in touch with both his masculinity and his femininity :D

I cannot stress enough how much I’m low-key embarassed by this but… I started playing my favourite childhood game again and was struck with the urge for fanart so I came up with a cool, slightly darker au for it. The art is of Greely and Peck, who act as the demigods/deities. Haven’t yet decided what I want them to reside over but I liked the idea of them acting as a duo because of how often they’re paired together in lore. (Yes. This is Animal Jam. The national geographic kids game.)

Your changeling!Daniil is amazing. Your Clara Burakh is amazing. Your totally-normal-scientist (who totally didn't do anything like Jack the Ripper and Victor Frankenstein in the capital! only ethically sourced bodies here!) Artemiy is amazing.

Clara as Haruspex is breaking my heart especially! The way you wrote her being friends with the kids - how Artemiy was once with Stakh, Grief and Lara - and how she has a foreboding feeling she won't belong with them once it is all over, because her role is to protect them, not be one of them! Rat man still found a way to be mean my girl 😭 Also she and Grace are so sweet. Wanted to say that Grace's name (Ласка) in Russian has double meaning: 1) weasel (animal); 2) tenderness. Do with that as you will~

Also Daniil (both of them) is so good as a changeling. I loved that quiet moment he had with Clara on the stage, where they say how odd it is to play like that. Love the eyes of the "twins" being what sets them apart, too! Raven feels like he wants to be a bad guy, but can't quite bring himself. Regretful plague that is also a dead man who is alive but only because the sickness is. Snake being so gentle and kind and seemingly having some sort of planning he doesn't fully share even with the reader. Also Daniil speaking Hebrew! I gasped when I realised. It's also a fun contrast to him only speaking in Latin in the game, especially if we still to see him as Jewish. Makes me really want to see how you'd write bachelor!Daniil! Want to take a look inside his head! I know what I shall read next.

Artemiy having a worst imposter syndrome out of all of them because of coming back home where he was supposed to take on his father's role and finding the man who was a founder of a project that could be called Artemiy's life work is comedy gold. Also his little sister literally living the life he refused! 10/10 no notes. Artemiy and his unfun coming-home-to-steppe party! 🥳 Roots, Rain and Reflection is secretly a comedy.

Thank you for writing this amazing role reversal, don't think I will be able to get it out of my head.

Haruclara truly deserves so much, she doesn't fit into the Termites despite being a kid herself, half because of the way she was raised and half because of the nature of the story and the separation of Healers and Bound. While also having messy connections with the other two Healers. I really wish I could have more Grara but this is primarily p1 focused so the Bound's role is limited (the amount of Yulia/Rubin/Lara/Aspity I had to cut- istg I was so excited to have an Aspity and Artemy interaction on day 6 but it would've been too long) I will keep what you said in mind though! thank you ^^

Changeniil has been so write, he keeps so much of himself hidden, so getting to reveal those small bits of him like in that theatre bit are great. The hands and the eyes being the main things to distinguish the twins Dankovsky is fun because those are two things Pathologic focuses on a lot, though I will say that there might be more later on. The Raven is a miserable wet beast, the idea behind the twins has been that different bits of Daniil are split up, so and what's fun about that is that it's Plagueniil that has the idealism. He's a fucked up guy held together only by spite and disease but he cares so much it hurts him. The Snake is also a creature, truly, he knows his plan, Raven knows his plan (and doesn't like it at all), and I know how it will fail, the narrators being unreliable is such a fun part of patho. I always write Daniil as Jewish (because he is to me lol) but specifically Daniil I think fits with Hebrew because it is a revived language and as a guy who is trying to defeat death I think it would suit him (also revived language and revived Daniil was an intentional choice) I will say though, idk how well my old writing holds up bc my writing got a lot better while writing roleswap so go at your own risk lol

Finally, Bachtemy, a dearly beloved fool <3 he used to have a much bigger conflict with Daniil about Daniil not being who Artemy expected him to be and that being a lot more angsty but then I started writing that scene and it turned out gay so nice. There's a lot about Artemy I'm planning to go into in chapter 7 so look out for that. Artemy is also 100% the character I get to make the funniest, truly the comedian of the cast, I am putting him in the blender as I write this.

I'm begging people to read The Resurrectionist by A. Rae Dunlap. For the love of god I need someone to talk to about this book because it's making me insane!

Selling points:

Very fun, morbid dark academia/gothic adventure-mystery-coming of age featuring grave robbing, romance and murder most foul

Historical fiction! Set in 1828 Edinburgh during the Burke & Hare murders. Many of the characters were real people who lived (and died) through those events - with missing information creatively filled in to entwine them with the plot

well researched, to the point where when I was looking for more information on the events presented (as one does when The Neurodivergence ignites) I just kept running into stuff that was already in the book

super immersive

Queer coming-of-age story without being a Queer Coming Of Age™️ story. Very sweet and complicated love story between two morally complex men of science

Very nice balance of tone; for all that it's a very funny book, it doesn't take away from the serious parts.

Characters are likable while retaining their complexity

Nye is peak weird girl rep despite not even being a girl. Nobody is doing it like him. I stand and respect a fellow collector of bugs and bones and dead bits.

James Willoughby is my favorite narrator ever, everyone else can go home <3

doesn't shy away from the gruesomeness of historical medicine or the moral complexities and often pretty awful shortcomings that led to the discoveries made in the period

nevertheless doesn't undersell just how fucking cool science and medicine are and how big of leaps in progress were being made!

I gotta stress how much this book appeals to the little gothy nerd inside me. I checked it out from the library, read it, screamed, immediately made my baby sibling read it (as I must with all things dark and age-appropriate) and ordered myself a personal copy that WILL be worn out from rereading in a year's time

Seriously the last book that rearranged my brain chemistry like this was Funeral Songs For Dying Girls (<- STILL not over it btw; rereading soon)

Idk man all I can say is this scratched an itch I didn't know I had, and I 100% recommend it if you're interested at all in this period of history, you've ever wondered "what if Victor Frankenstein was gay?", you enjoyed that one episode of Good Omens, and/or listen to Lore podcast.

Just finished episode 5 of Stranger Things 4 for the first time!!

And HOLY SHIT. It was GREAT!!

Now I started it a few days ago (the episode) and only finished the second half today and I loved it so much! Spoilers ahead for anyone who hasn't watched this yet btw! :)

Ok so here's my thoughts on the episode as someone watching it for the first time!! :DDDD

(warning that some of this stuff might end up just being from ep 4 as well, since I am very bad at remembering when things happened lmao)

The fact that Victor Creel (pretty sure that's the one, I sometimes get name mixed up of the guys involved with Vecna directly in the past in st4 lol) tried to kill himself to join his family is so sad especially with how devastated he sounded when he said that they stopped the bleeding, like I know he isn't one of the mains but that scene was so sad :(... the guy who played him did such a good job tho!!

Also loved when his family got vecna'd. The spiders coming from the drain thing with his wife (I think?) is actually one of my most frequent intrusive thoughts, I can't imagine how terrible it would feel to see spiders crawling out of the drain in the tub like that, and then coming back just to see that it was never there? spooky shit indeed.

and that makes me think about the jars with... dead spiders that steve found in the vent. I wonder if that scene actually holds any significance at all?? idk yet lol. We'll see!

The lumax scene at the piano in the Creel house was so sweet, I think it was really nice and I'm curious now if it might parallel any byler scenes from st4... I'll have to keep an eye out as I watch the rest of the season I guess lol.

The lights flickering and leading them to the attic, and the way the camera view shifted to be showing Vecna in the upside down? That was AWESOME.

And don't get me STARTED on the death of Jason's friend, I was NOT expecting it to happen when they were chasing Eddie! God, that must've been so terrible for Jason and Eddie. I mean, for Jason, can you even IMAGINE seeing your girlfriend's body looking like that, being about to catch the guy you think murdered her, and then your best friend dies to vecna'd but you have no clue how it's happening? and then HIS BODY FALLS IN THE WATER WHILE JASON IS IN IT, like, that would be SO DISGUSTING to me lmao. And Eddie, well, he'd just seen Chrissy die in the same exact way less than a month ago, like, talk about salt in the wound! (The wound being Trauma™)

And Argyle saying that about the neverending story was really funny lol

BUT THEN EL? the stuff SHE was going through? ughhhhhhfhfhfhhghghfhffff that was so sad and scary. amazing acting, it felt so real, but the scene with the first guy (002 I believe) and the lightbulbs kinda hurt my head lol (I was watching the episode with my earbuds on my phone, so that's probably a bit understandable). But then her choosing to STAY there and get her powers back, I just wanna give that poor girl a hug so bad, she's been through so much. And the thing is, she thought she was going to a place that could help her! and then it was just grabbing her trauma and shoving it back in her face, the poor girl :(

The scene where the government dudes with the guns were trying to shoot them was insane tho, I mean like, that was so cool! I love how close Mike and Will were sticking together. Mike, Will, I know what you are ಠಿ_ಠ

and then Dustin being Dustin, ofc. telling little holly about a dream murderer, real great idea, man. and then not telling Steve anything, that wasn't very cool of him. but then again, he's only 14, I mean, I'd do that too if I was stressed out and my friend who GRADUATED FROM HIGHSCHOOL ALREADY kept asking me questions that I thought were dumb. Like, oh, what clues are we looking for? literally any. the flashlights? well, I'd rather be a bit rude than admit that I forgot to tell you only. plus, what with Eddie being in danger AND Max, I doubt he got too much sleep... poor little guy :(

And Mike, Will, are you really planning on visiting Dustin's girlfriend WITHOUT HIM? oh, he's not gonna be super happy about that, you guys. haha, I can already see it, he's probably gonna be so pissed that they left him out of a visit to his gf, and then Mike will be like, "Dude, we needed to, El could be dying right now, what'd you WANT us to do, figure it out on our own?"

Wasn't too fond of the little stancy moment tbh, it kinda gave me a bit of jancy doubt and of course the byler doubt followed. because they are NOT gonna be giving us canon steve x Jonathan x Nancy in st4, its going to be either jancy or stancy. And with how many jancy and byler parallels there are, and I'm pretty sure some stancy and m*leven parallels, them setting up some sort of romantic thing tension or whatever you want to call that spiderweb scene just makes me a bit worried that they're setting them up for a stancy endgame and of course if they choose to save THAT failing straight relationship, then they'll surely do that with m*leven as well, right?

Overall amazing episode, I loved it very much, and the fight with Murray and Yuri on the plane was SO FUN!! Yuri is such a funny character too lol. his sense of humor is honestly so good imo.

but yeah I really really loved the episode, as usual with this show, and I thought that you guys might like to hear my thoughts on it as a first-time viewer, especially since most of you I've noticed have watched it through multiple times before, since this is a fresh take on it RIGHT after finishing the episode for the first time! ngl the scene with El at the end had me crying, like omg no, don't stay there!

robin is such an icon tho. so is Nancy. so is will. so is argyle. so is Jonathan. so is Mike. so is Steve tbh. I love all of them so much I really hope none of them die but argyle might :(

Sammy laughed like a madman for about fifteen minutes. God, he absolutely has to tell this to Sebastian!

He decides to also surprise the Farmer with a gay joke, and basically, this starts a competition to see who tells the best gay joke (Lewis caught the two of them and scolded them for profanity and vulgarity).

This competition has reached a state like in vine "Bro I have a dream we fucked" (you can consider this the start of a bromance or romance if the feelings are mutual).

Just so long as his little brother doesn't accidentally overhear his jokes, or there will be a LOT of questions from Sam's dad and mum.

Shane:

Shane nearly choked on his beer when Farmer finished the joke. "Ok, that's a good one."

For a few days or so, he'd been going over that joke when he was working at JojaMart and smiled faintly. Shit, It's really funny.

Decided not to stay in debt and meet Farmer next time with a similar joke. Their surprise and laughter brought amusement to Shane.

The only rule to Farmer was not to tell it to Jas. And under no circumstances teach her such jokes, or Shane would get angry, and then everyone would definitely not be laughing.

Harvey:

If Farmer thought Harvey would like such a vulgar joke about the male genitalia, let them think again.

The lack of a smile and slight irritation made it clear to Farmer that the doctor didn't appreciate such a pun.

Harvey will give Farmer some children's booklets that tell Farmer the rules of behaviour. If that's how they behave, they'll need it for sure.

If they told him in front of children or the elderly, Harvey would have a hard time suppressing his own urge to grab them by the ear and shove them out the door of his clinic.

About half a minute passed while Alex tried to make sense of it.

And then burst out laughing. "Pfft! Hah!"

Decided to get on the internet and learn a couple of jokes like that to catch the Farmer off guard and laugh from their facial expressions.

Actually, they should be good friends with Alex so he wouldn't threaten to punch them in the face for such jokes. And so - friendly banter, hey!

The two joke around until Lewis catches them and threatens Alex that he's going to tell his grandmother. Alex snaps, but stops (sorry Farmer, but he loves his grandparents and doesn't want to upset them).

Victor:

*nervous laughter* "Hahaha, you're so funny! (Please don't tell that joke to my mother...)."

Victor had made a few jokes and puns himself on more than one occasion, but they were never vulgar. He was not allowed by his upbringing.

But in order not to offend the Farmer and not to be the one in the company who alone didn't get the joke, he would laugh a little pretentiously.

Victor would blush horribly if asked if he even understood the point of the joke.

If Olivia is around in their presence, poor Victor will burn with shame (No, mother, they didn't mean it-).

Magnus Rasmodius:

Magnus looked at Farmer disapprovingly and shook his head. "Every day we're getting further away from Yoba..."

So they distracted him from important matters for the sake of telling him this, excuse him, tasteless humour?

Sorry Farmer, but Magnus doesn't want to hear that sort of thing in his presence. And, frankly, he wouldn't advise them to make jokes about roosters and... so on, considering Farmer's quite a good person. That kind of vulgarity doesn't suit them.

He'll give them a heavy scolding if they make such jokes in front of Morgan. Maybe even threaten to wash their mouths out with soap.

Lance:

Lance's silence and faintly perceptible smile confused Farmer.

At the same time, the gallant adventurer is trying to think how to tell Farmer politely that their joke is terrible and vulgar without hurting their feelings.

Merciful Yoba, Lance is too well-mannered to even think of such a thing.

He won't correct the Farmer, just subtly hint that their choice in puns isn't a good one. Especially with ladies and children around.

Still, there may be a time when Lance will cover his mouth with his fist so as not to give away his laughter if Farmer decides to tell this joke to one of his colleagues (the unfortunate colleague is likely to be Isaac).

HALLOW-LEE-N movie review Oct 25th : The Curse of Frankenstein (1957)

My apologies to the book version of Victor Frankenstein. I thought you were an ass but turns out, other versions can be so much worse!

Just because Victor here is a terrible human being though, does not stop this movie from being good. This is the earliest movie I've reviewed so far as well.

Major changes were made from the book. Here, Victor (Peter Cushing) is a Baron from a very young age, having lost both of his parents. He hires a tutor, Paul, and as he grows older Paul becomes more of a friend.

Victor still wants to find the secret to life, but when he and Paul successfully reanimate a puppy (wonderful performance by the pup actor BTW, can't believe how still he stay while having water poured on his flank), he immediately gets ideas about creating the ideal man.

Paul is none too hot on this idea, especially once Victor murders an old scientist and pilfers his brain. Eventually Victor gets his creation all together and during a violent storm the process works : out of the tub comes a perfectly alive Christopher Lee. The creature however is the stereotypical image incapable of speech and dragging his long limbs around uncoordinated. He immediately tries to strangle Victor and then bails when Paul hits him on the head.

Victor and Paul manage to find the Monster after he's implied to have killed a blind old man and his grandkid, and Paul shoots him dead. They bury him and part on bad terms, but obviously Victor doesn't know how to let a bad idea rest and digs up the Monster.

Meanwhile, Victor's cousin Elizabeth has arrived to live with him. She is expecting to marry Victor, despite Paul telling her multiple times that she needs to get the hell out of here.

Another person displeased by the new arrival is the maid, Justine, who is pregnant with Victor's child. She threatens to tell people about Victor's shady experiments if he doesn't marry her, so he locks her in with the Monster one night. Yeah. He really is a piece of work in this film.

We find that Victor has been keeping the Monster chained in the attic and training him to obey basic commands - with excessive cruelty of course. He blames the Monster's lack of genius on Paul damaging his brain, because obviously Victor can do no wrong.

Lee really has a magistral performance here. You feel horrible for the poor Monster and just want to show him kindness for the first time. Even if he strangles you.

Eventually the Monster breaks out, Victor fires at him but wounds Elizabeth but then lights the Monster on fire. Victor ends up in prison, and neither Paul nor Elizabeth intervene to save him from the guillotine. Happy ending.

I really liked this movie even though Victor was horrible, Elizabeth kind of unsufferable, Justine unsympathetic and the Monster really not a character. I think that speaks to the strength of the writing, directif and acting. 8/10.

Today's chapter really is like... Excuse me she's literally dying over there can you two please have some decency and figure your shit out outside.

But jokes aside, we have here two motifs that keep repeating themselves, an echo of the Conventionist, of words and reactions spoken between life and death, and this theme of Divine authority versus mundane authority. Fantine is the conventionist and Valjean is the bishop come to bless her but being the one who is blessed

And since Javert instinctively obeys the highest authority in the room because he's literally a dog (and at this point they thought this was how dogs worked) he obeys Valjean's divine mandate. Tho also he had an iron bar with him, you get my point.

It's very interesting how Javert's loyalties change because he doesn't think for himself and only reacts to outside forces. This character is fascinating as like an idea. I've seen this idea play out in Stefan Zweig's The Royal Game but it isn't the only time I've seen it, it's also a repeated theme is the Star Trek original series, to name a couple examples.

It's also something that ties into orientalism (I've been reading Edward Said shh) and like this contrast of the learned enlightened Western man versus the base, thoughtless, purely instinctual and reactive Oriental. And the oriental of course is not a set thing but a vague definition that can change meanings depending on context. For Stefan Zweig this man is represented by an eastern european peasant contrasted to an intellectual austrian royalist. The entire novella is about the futile battle between the two extremes, the internal journey and the purely external. In Star Trek the contrast is between a being of pure unfeeling logic, a computer, and its inherent inferiority to a man according to Roddenberry's point of view. The computer always loses to the greatness of man's empathy and instinct. It's also like, wish fulfillment. To try to make yourself believe you can't be replaced by a computer.

Anyway this was a bit of a tangent because I have some thoughts about Star Trek's orientalism re: Spock. But also because Hugo looooooves an illuminism VS barbarism contrast and he loooooves orientalism. And I argue that Les Mis is actually a turning point for him. Because if you read Toilers of the Sea what you get is actually a kind of reversal or culmination of his ideas on the grotesque and the barbarian. Maybe because he left France and actually saw that there are other people in the world with different worldviews and he was able to grasp them because they were still European

edit: Edward Said talks a lot about Victor Hugo, Flaubert and Nerval in Orientalism btw and an attentive reader can very clearly see the aspects of orientalism that stil permeate Les Mis even when he isn't even talking about the orient itself. The orient presents itself as a dramatic trope or a creation of the ""West"" for their dramas... Good book btw

OC Smash or Pass

I was tagged by @writernopal (here)! Thank you so much for this fun Tag! I think I might do a few of these for my OCs, because I adore this tag game (:

Rules: pretty self-explanatory. include physical descriptions or pics, and propaganda. the “other” label can be used for “sexuality misalignment” (ie: oc is femme and you’re gay, vice versa or you aren’t into smashing but a specific thing you wanna do with them like perhaps hug or study them under a microscope idc)

Augustus Grimmure

Description (I haven't completed his character art yet): Augustus is a tall young man with dark skin and long, curly ashen brown hair - which he usually styles into a very neat ponytail with a purple ribbon. He has hazel eyes that can glow red or purple depending on which magic he uses. Augustus usually wears a long dapper suit/coat (in the colors of either white, dark purple, green, or charcoal black), along with a silk ruffle tie and other Victorian-style clothing, he also has dark circles under his eyes and may wear gloves from time to time. Has a sharp smile. He is heavily near-sighted and often wears spectacles/glasses (when possible) reinforced by magic - which might be because I wanted a glass-wearing protagonist in this book because I personally can't see shite without my glasses IRL (:

Basic Facts:

Height - 6 ft (around 1.80m)

Age - 19, soon to be 20

Occupation: Necromancer

Sexuality - An extremely hot, very romantic, Asexual straight man

Pros:

HUGGER! Once he's grown to love you that is. Augustus loves to show how much he cares by holding hands, cuddling, running hands through your hair, and (especially) hugging. He wants a relationship to be something special.

Augustus is very brave, and it takes a lot to faze him, especially since he is one of the most powerful beings in Ansburke, but even if he weren't he doesn't hesitate to face risks if it means doing something he considers right - especially when it comes to protecting the one he loves.

Dark Academia aesthetic (more like Chaotic Academia lmao) incarnate, and very gothic-coded. A romance with him has strong Gomez/Morticia vibes (this is legit the best way I could describe it), it's all about finding love in the dark and even macabre. He's also hopelessly devoted, and quite the romantic underneath his chaotic exterior.

Intelligent and witty, with a wild sense of humor. Will not hesitate to pull a carefully thought-out prank on someone if it makes you both laugh. Is also known for his clever comebacks, especially to those who already have it coming.

A good listener. Even if he is not particularly interested in whatever it is you are talking about, he will lend you his attention and let you finish your vent, however long it may be. He's also very good at problem-solving, having a scholar's mindset.

Neutral Facts (that may be pros or cons to some):

Augustus is somewhat inspired by the story of Victor Frankenstein (this character was born of the question I once asked myself - "What if Frankenstein wasn't insane and was a sorcerer instead of a scientist?"). This means he inherits a bit of a mad scientist's disregard for rules and tradition.

He doesn't enjoy sexual intimacy or acts of that nature at all, even though he isn't particularly sex-repulsed - he's asexual, and personally just finds sex a useless and slightly disturbing waste of time. That doesn't mean he doesn't like other kinds of intimacy - as mentioned before, once he gets truly close to someone, he's quite the hugger. (Btw, his love languages are Quality Time and (non-sexual) Physical Touch.)

Cons:

Has severe trust issues. While on the surface Augustus has a very personable and polite behavior towards anyone that doesn't personally irk him (when he isn't feeling particularly petty), he believes that "everyone is out to achieve their own personal goals at all costs" and that in their cutthroat world, everyone is looking to get the upper hand on someone else, so the walls around his heart (beyond a superficially friendly relationship) are quite tall and armored. He would never betray someone who trusts him but is constantly expecting to be personally betrayed. It takes a lot to prove that you truly care for him with no strings attached, but it is worth it when you finally do!

Extended lifespan - while it means no human can truly kill him (whilst he is under the constraints of his contract to the Deathbringer, a fae demon he made a deal with) during your adventures, it also means that you, a human, will eventually get older much quicker than him and die long before him - unless he's broken his Oath, which would return his lifespan back to a normal human's.

Does have a bit of morbid/dark humor natural to any necromancer so, while it can lead to funny and slightly unhinged interactions, he doesn't quite understand why some people consider his deathly jokes as inappropriate (even though he means no harm, that's just his sense humor and how he views te world).

His devotion has a "dark side" (to him) that comes out in the form of self-sacrificial tendencies and will fight Gods if prompted, with no second thoughts about his own safety, if it means keeping the select few people he trusts away from harm. Has no qualms about killing his enemies to achieve that as well.
